Just In Time for Christmas
As Christmas approached this year, we knew that things may look a little different. Because operating expenses had doubled, and donations so far had not quite caught up to the need, surplus to spend for Christmas was just not there. We were going to have to get creative.
And here is where God, our Jehovah Jireh, did what He always does. He provides in ways we could not dream or imagine. A few years ago, a very good friend of BGCH had made a generous and unique donation. Their business, Tiny Planet, involved exporting furniture and artisan crafted home decor from a remote region of India. They worked very closely with the small village and artisans to design and create beautiful items that they then sold from their showroom in the States. In time, they had needed to close the showroom and when they did, they decided to donate all of the items left in their inventory to BGCH.
So what do you do with a showroom full of one of a kind, hand crafted, artisan designed home decor from India? Good question. And for a while, we weren't sure either. But God knew exactly what He was doing.
Fast forward to 2021 and a Christmas that was quickly approaching with a very slim Christmas budget to work with. A local event, called Mistletoe Market, was happening and it gave us an idea. What if we set up a booth and sold our Naviyan furniture and decor with the disclaimer that 100% of the proceeds going directly to buy Christmas for our kiddos? We added some adorable t-shirts and sweatshirts to the mix, as well as a precious Cowboy Christmas book written and donated by a local author and voila! Before we knew what was happening, items were flying off of the shelves quicker than we could replace them!
Three days of shopping later, our supply was all but emptied and thanks to the generous hearts of the community, over $5,500 was raised and was quickly sent to our staff to make sure that gifts could be bought in time.
And it did. In God's perfect time and in His way, gifts were purchased and celebrations began. And the smiles on each face remind us that it's worth it.
Christmas Day begins in the dark, probably like many of yours did. You see, although there are differences, there are many things that are also very much the same. Early Christmas mornings are one of them.
Just like our children, we offer our thanks to our Father and to you, for helping make this moment possible for these precious lives. Merry Christmas from each and every one of us at BGCH! We pray God's blessings for you and your families.
