G-66 HEART FOUNDATION
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the Boys and Girls Christian Home has a heart. On September 13, the G-66 Heart Foundation made it official by holding a camp at the home.

G-66 Heart Foundation is a charitable organization that helps needy Indians get needed heart surgeries. It was established in 1966 by a group of classmates and fast friends from Manibai Gujarati High School in Amravati. After completing their 11th grade education they went into different fields. Some of them became doctors, some of them became businessmen and some started to practice law. They decided to form a fpundation and meet once or twice a year with the purpose of doing social work for needy people. One of the members of the foundation, Dr. C. J. Hemantkumar, is a famous heart surgeon in Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai, and he organized the other doctors at Jaslok to serve the poor and needy through the G-66 Heart Foundation.

In India it is very difficult for poor people to afford Rs. 80,000 to 1,000,000 ($1,777 to $2,222 US) for heart surgery. Only the rich can afford this type of medical treatment and many poor people die without the proper treatment. G-66 Heart Foundation’s doctors go to reach poor people in the villages where they live and then the foundation provides the necessary funds for them to travel to Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai and receive the best possible treatment.

The purpose of the camp at BGCHM was to diagnose and select candidates for heart surgery and other treatment in Mumbai. This year, 179 patients were seen by the following doctors:

· Dr. C. J. Hemantkumar (Heart Surgeon, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai)
· Dr. Kanak Nagle (Cardiologist, Nayar Hospital, Mumbai)
· Dr. V.J. Chauhan (Heart Surgeon, Super Specialist Hospital, Nagpur)
· Dr. P. Kadu (Cardiologist, Amravati)

They referred seven people for heart surgery, two of whom underwent open-heart surgery. Another 13 people were diagnosed with various heart diseases, including a BGCH student, Gajanand Billewar, who was diagnosed and treated for rheumatic heart disease.

As part of the camp, the members of G-66 Heart Foundation enjoyed an informative program and conducted physical examinations of the entire student body of BGCH as well as many local people from Chandur Bazar.

Mr. Ramesh Karva, a good friend of BGCH was the main organizer of the camp, and BGCH General Director Mr. P.S. Nitnaware was chairperson. In his word of thanks to all the doctors and honorable guests, Mr. Nitnaware he reminded the group that Jesus Christ has set before all people an example of service. G-66 Heart Foundation is doing a part of that service. Mr. Nanasaheb Ingole, Bhaktidham, Chandur Bazar opened the camp. Mr. Deshmukh, Mr. Harkut, Dr. Vijay Doshi, Dr. Dvivedi, Rev. J. T. Ingole were the chief guests.

Kindly pray for Gajanand Billewar, Vikas Badshe and Tara Betekar who are under special treatment. We are thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ for helping us to have this camp for the people of Chandur Bazar and especially for the boys and girls of BGCH.
